Brown’s Mart, standing proudly on Larrakia land in Darwin, is the home of Territory Performing Arts and a cornerstone of the Northern Territory’s creative community since 1972. We deliver a vibrant, year-round program that champions new work, local voices and contemporary performance, fuels community connection, and celebrates creative excellence in the Top End. Our legacy is built on collaboration, innovation, and a deep commitment to supporting artists, audiences, and our region’s diverse communities.

As a Board Director, you’ll be at the heart of a dynamic, values-led not-for-profit with a national profile and local impact. You’ll help shape strategy, provide governance, and ensure Brown’s Mart continues to be a home for boundary-pushing performance and inclusive community engagement. Your insight will help nurture and steward both the legacy and the future of Territory arts.
We are specifically seeking to appoint a maximum of two directors by October 2025 with the following skillsets:
- A background in Finance & Accounting who could confidently step in and chair the Finance Committee
- Leadership in the business operations of arts organisatons, including strategy, touring, festivals, venue management and earned income generation
These directors should have the following attributes:
- Are committed to supporting and developing the Territory’s creative and cultural life
- Have experience in the not-for-profit sector, specifically the arts
- Are willing to serve on board committees (finance, governance & nominations, and fundraising)
- Value diversity and are keen to work collaboratively with other sector leaders
Previous board experience is welcome but not required. What matters most is a genuine committment to the arts, solid relevant experience, and a readiness to contribute to Brown’s Mart Art’s ongoing success. We encourage applications from people of all backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, culturally and linguistically diverse individuals, and those with lived experience in the arts or charity sectors.
